Football in Prestatyn

Prestatyn Town FC — the Seasiders — have been playing football in the town since 1910. A club with a long, largely undramatic history, they have occasionally punched above their weight in Welsh football and continue to provide a consistent focal point for the town's sporting community.

History

Founded in 1910, Prestatyn Town Football Club has spent most of its existence in the middle tiers of Welsh football. The club's most notable period came in the modern Welsh Premier League era, when they achieved promotion to the top flight and held their own there for several seasons. European competition — a distant prospect for a club from a town of 18,000 — was briefly not entirely theoretical during this period, though the club never progressed to the group stages of any UEFA competition.

The club plays at Bastion Road in Prestatyn, with a ground capacity of approximately 2,300. Nicknamed the Seasiders — for obvious reasons — they have maintained a community-focused approach through the various financial and competitive pressures that affect all semi-professional clubs at this level.

Current Status

As of the 2025-26 season, Prestatyn Town FC competes in the Ardal NW (North West) League, the second tier of Welsh football below the Cymru Premier. The club has worked to maintain its community connections through youth development and grassroots coaching programmes. Watching a home fixture at Bastion Road is the kind of local football experience — modest ground, genuine supporters, honest football — that is increasingly difficult to find at a club with any pretension to professionalism.
