The Nova Centre

The Nova Centre is Prestatyn's principal indoor leisure facility — a purpose-built complex on the seafront that provides swimming, adventure play, fitness, and dining under one roof. It has been through at least one major renovation (a £4.4 million revamp) and is, by the standards of North Wales coastal leisure, genuinely good.

What's Inside

The Nova Centre contains a swimming pool with slides, a four-storey Pirate Ship indoor adventure playground with toddler soft play, a fitness suite and gym, and a restaurant with sea views. The combination of wet and dry attractions makes it a strong wet-day destination — Prestatyn's climate, being North Wales, makes this a practical consideration rather than a theoretical one.

The swimming facilities include both leisure and fitness pool provision. The Pirate Ship adventure playground is a significant draw for families with children between roughly 2 and 12 — four storeys of climbing, sliding, and general physical chaos with sea views from the upper levels is a combination that tends to occupy children effectively.

The Restaurant

The Nova's restaurant sits at the seafront end of the complex with views over the beach and the Irish Sea. It is one of Prestatyn's better options for a casual meal with a view — the food is pub-style with reasonable execution, and the location makes it notably better than the setting would strictly require. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is worth considering as a dinner option even for visitors staying elsewhere in town.

Location and Access

The Nova sits directly behind Central Beach on West End, Prestatyn — the building is unmissable from the seafront. It also marks the northern terminus of Offa's Dyke Path; the stone marker on the breakwater adjacent to the Nova is where long-distance walkers complete or begin their 177-mile journey. Nova East and Nova West car parks give direct road access. The complex is approximately a fifteen-minute walk from Prestatyn railway station.
